What to do when the pattern is turbid? — Qu-Qing
In pattern-based chart reading, 'qu-qing' is an important concept — removing or transforming the turbid elements in the pattern so that the pattern regains purity. Qu-qing can be inherent in the natal chart (the natal chart has Ten Gods that remove turbidity) or accomplished during luck cycles (luck cycles bring the force to remove turbidity). After qu-qing, the pattern's hierarchy significantly improves.
Qu-qing = removing turbidity. Removing mixing through qu-qing restores clear pattern direction. Second type: controlling/transforming the restraining spirit — turbidity formed when the pattern's core Ten God is restrained by another; purify by controlling/transforming the restraining spirit. Direct Officer pattern's Officer star restrained by Hurting Officer — take Resource to control Hurting Officer and protect the Officer (Resource controls Hurting Officer; Hurting Officer no longer restrains Officer), pattern regains purity. Third type: releasing combination-transformation — the pattern's core Ten God is combined/transformed by another Ten God and loses function; purify by releasing the combination-transformation. 2. Natal Chart Qu-Qing vs. Luck Cycle Qu-Qing
Qu-qing can occur in the natal chart or during luck cycles. Natal chart qu-qing — the chart is born with Ten Gods that remove turbidity; although the pattern had some turbidity 'at the factory,' it has 'self-cleaning capability.' The natal chart has Output controlling Killing (removing Killing, retaining Officer), Officer pattern is pure — this is a pattern with a built-in water purifier. Luck cycle qu-qing — the natal chart has turbidity but no self-cleaning capability; when a specific luck cycle arrives, the cycle brings the force to remove turbidity, and the pattern gets 'washed clean' during that period. During the qu-qing luck cycle, pattern hierarchy significantly improves. But luck cycle qu-qing has one problem: once the luck cycle passes, the purifying force disappears, and the pattern returns to its original turbid state. So luck cycle qu-qing is 'temporary purity' — during that luck cycle step, the pattern reaches its optimal state, but after the cycle passes, it needs to sustain itself.
3. Pattern Hierarchy Improvement After Qu-Qing
How much the pattern's hierarchy improves after qu-qing depends on the severity of the turbidity and the thoroughness of the purification. Severe turbidity (pattern core function damaged) — after qu-qing, hierarchy may improve from 'pattern limited' to 'pattern functioning normally' — qu-qing restores the pattern's basic function. Mild turbidity (pattern direction just not very clear) — after qu-qing, hierarchy may improve from 'pattern average' to 'pattern superior' — qu-qing makes the pattern's direction more distinct. Insufficiently thorough qu-qing (turbidity not fully removed, only controlled) — hierarchy improvement is limited; the pattern still 'runs with injury,' just with the wound bandaged. The most ideal situation of complete qu-qing: the turbid elements are fully eliminated, and the pattern returns to the pure state it should have had. This kind of complete qu-qing usually requires cooperation between the natal chart and luck cycles — the natal chart has the qu-qing capability, and luck cycles strengthen the qu-qing force.
