The Seven Strength States
You're not picking between 'strong' and 'weak.' There are seven states.
Day Master Strength states are discrete, not continuous. Scholars divide the Day Master into seven distinct states: Extreme Weak, Overly Weak, Moderately Weak, Balanced, Moderately Strong, Overly Strong, Extreme Strong. Each state maps to a completely different reading strategy. The prior article introduced the seven-level framework. This article goes deeper into each state's specific yongshen selection logic — what approach is appropriate for each. Core principle: Moderately Weak and Moderately Strong sit in the adjustable range (support or suppress). Overly Weak and Overly Strong have hit the critical zone (strategy must flip). Extreme Weak and Extreme Strong have entered pattern territory (follow, don't fight).
Seven states → seven strategies. Extreme Weak: follow the weakness (Follower pattern). Overly Weak: don't support — flow with the current. Moderately Weak: support (Resource/Companion). Balanced: flexible adaptation. Moderately Strong: control, drain, or consume. Overly Strong: drain only, never control (control triggers fury). Extreme Strong: follow the strength (Specialized Prosperity). Wrong state → all downstream strategy wrong.
1. The three weak states: Extreme Weak, Overly Weak, Moderately Weak
2. The three strong states: Moderately Strong, Overly Strong, Extreme Strong
3. Balanced — the most flexible middle state
4. State drift: how one state slides into the next

Practical Execution
- Predict state drift direction: Currently Moderately Weak → Resource/Companion cycle may drift to Moderately Strong (state changed, strategy must change). Currently Moderately Strong → Wealth cycle may drift back to Balanced (more flexible). At the start of each luck cycle, predict the drift direction one level ahead.
- Watch the critical zone especially closely: Overly Weak and Overly Strong are the dangerous critical zone — because 'neither support nor control works easily.' Overly Weak: wait for Output cycles (Output drains the drain/control forces, easing pressure) or Wealth cycles (Wealth siphons through Output). Overly Strong: wait for Output cycles (drain the strong god) or Wealth cycles (Wealth drains Output in a chain-release of the strong god).
Follow-up Questions
Q:Can a Day Master be stuck between Overly Weak and Moderately Weak?
A:
Borderline cases absolutely exist — some Day Masters hover between Overly Weak and Moderately Weak (micro-root present but not quite enough). Judgment: look at cycle tendency. If consecutive cycles bring support → treat as Moderately Weak. If consecutive cycles bring control → treat as Overly Weak and follow.
Q:What's the practical difference between Overly Weak and Extreme Weak?
A:
Extreme Weak has zero root — Follower pattern is the only option. Overly Weak might have a micro-root or a protective Seal — there's still a narrow window for light support under specific conditions. Extreme Weak closes that window entirely.
