Outer patterns fall into three major categories: Day Master exceptionally strong types (Monopolizing Prosperity, Build-Renewal, Ram Blade), Day Master exceptionally weak types (various Follower patterns), and special mechanism types (Transforming Qi patterns, Combined Renewal patterns, etc.). 1. Day Master Exceptionally Strong Outer Patterns
The common feature of this category is that the Day Master's strength far exceeds normal levels. 2. Day Master Exceptionally Weak Outer Patterns
The common feature of this category is that the Day Master is extremely weak, unable to stand independently, and can only follow the most powerful Ten God in the entire chart. Follower patterns include Follower of Killing pattern, Follower of Wealth pattern, Follower of Officer pattern, Follower of Child pattern (following Eating God/Hurting Officer), Follower of Seal pattern, etc. The Use logic is to follow the trend — going along with the direction of the chart's strongest Ten God, avoiding body-supporting elements that break the pattern. The core of luck cycles for Follower patterns is 'preserving the following' — the Day Master must not gain any strength to rebel, otherwise there is a risk of pattern breakage. Transforming Qi pattern — the Day Master forms a Heavenly Stem Five Combination with the month stem or hour stem, the combination transformation succeeds and the transformed element gains momentum. The pattern centers on the transformed element, and the Useful God follows the transformed element's direction. Combined Renewal pattern — the Day Master lacks a Renewal and 'borrows' one through Heavenly Stem Five Combinations. The pattern depends on the stability of the combination-transformation. Flying Heaven Renewal-Horse pattern, Inverted Rush pattern, etc. — obtain Renewal-Horse (Wealth/Officer) through special branch clash and combination relationships. These patterns are relatively rare and have stricter judgment conditions. The common characteristic of special mechanism outer patterns is 'fragility' — the pattern's establishment depends on specific Ten God relationships and combination-transformation conditions.
