Taboo-God Annual Pillar Judgment
Stem and branch both taboo — take it seriously, but don't panic
When both the annual Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch are taboo gods (忌神) for your chart — this is a signal worth attention. But not every dual-taboo year brings disaster. Severity has four tiers. Tier 1: both stem and branch taboo but rootless and weak — superficial taboo, limited impact. Just an annoying year with minor frustrations. Tier 2: one real, one superficial (stem has root or branch has root, but not both) — moderate damage, one life domain may take a hit. Tier 3: both stem AND branch have root, are strong, and face no control — true taboo-god year. The domain that taboo represents has real breakout risk. Tier 4: tier 3 conditions PLUS the taboo directly clashes or overcomes your useful god or Day Master root — maximum-risk year.
Taboo-god year tiers: T1 (rootless, superficial) = small annoyances. T2 (one side rooted) = moderate risk. T3 (both rooted, uncontrolled) = high risk. T4 (both rooted + strike useful god) = maximum risk. Most people's taboo years fall in T1-T2. T3-T4 are relatively rare but demand attention.

Practical Application
- Four-tier quick judgment: T1: live normally, small stuff. T2: lower expectations in the affected domain, steady as she goes. T3: set defenses early, delay big decisions, protect cash flow. T4: full contraction, zero risk-taking, wait for the year to turn.
- Exploit rescue months heavily: Even in a fully taboo year, identify which months have rescue energy. Pack important actions into those windows. The month where the taboo is strongest (taboo in command) — maximum caution that month.
- Don't invest based on fear alone: T1-T2: normal investing unaffected. T3: reduce high-risk positions. T4: suspend most investing, prioritize capital preservation. But if the taboo element happens to be your useful god (some people's useful god is others' taboo), the judgment reverses.
Follow-up Questions
Q:Should I avoid all investing in a taboo-god year?
A:
T1-T2: normal investment decisions unaffected. T3: reduce high-risk investments. T4: pause most investing, prioritize capital preservation. But if the 'taboo' element is actually your chart's useful god, the judgment flips entirely — useful-god years that 'look' taboo aren't.
Q:Can a taboo-god year still produce good results?
A:
Yes, if rescue conditions are strong. A T3 year with powerful Luck Cycle rescue can still be productive — the rescue absorbs most of the hit. The year feels hard but you still get things done. Pure T4 with zero rescue is where nothing works.
