Mangpai Body, Constitution, Target: The Three-Layer Framework for Reading a Chart
You didn't get a birth chart. You got a weapons arsenal and a target list.
Traditional Ziping uses day-master strength to set the chart pattern. Mangpai doesn't. Mangpai splits the chart into three layers: Body (who you are), Constitution (what you can do), and Target (what you want). These aren't theoretical categories — they're the operating framework that directly produces chart-reading conclusions. The layer concept comes from blind masters' oral tradition, and it's more battle-tested than the Ten Gods approach.
Body is the foundation — no root still means possible wealth but nothing stays. Constitution is your tool system — it decides how much wealth and power you can grab. Target is the prey — constitution-target match is the real wealth code.
1. Body: Not strength — can you stand?
2. Constitution: Your tool system
3. Target: What you actually want

Dimensions
Career & Wealth
A rooted day master carries wealth and power. Constitution-Target match means career results. A rootless day master is a car with no engine — wealth and power never last. The key is whether the day master has root, and whether that root has been damaged. Root intact: wealth is possible. Root severed: everything goes to zero.
Love & Relationship
Constitution-Target match is the core marriage lens. Day Pillar is Constitution, Wealth and Official are Target. A man with Wealth on the Day Branch has money at home. A woman with Official on the Day Branch has authority at home. Weak Constitution, strong Target men get controlled by women. Strong Constitution, weak Target women look down on their partners.
Personality
Heavy Seal-Constitution people overthink — lots of planning, little doing. Eating God and Hurting Officer types act fast, have skills, and get impulsive. Friend and Rob Wealth types execute hard, value loyalty, and are stubborn as stone. Every Constitution has its blind spot. No perfect toolkit exists.
Health
A rooted day master has energy. Root damaged means a weak, sickly body. Pierced Salary god leads to overwork. Attacked Seal star leads to overthinking and insomnia. Constitution state directly hits the body: weak Eating God means poor digestion. Weak Friend means weak limbs.
Classic Sources
Practical Application
- First: check if the day master has root : The first thing to check is not strength — it's whether the Day Branch, Month Branch, or Hour Branch holds the day master's root (Salary, Emperor Prosperity, Birth). Has root and it's not attacked? This person can carry weight. No root? See if they can borrow one — Friend stars in Year and Month can also serve as root.
- Determine what tool the Constitution uses : Look at which of Seal, Eating God/Hurting Officer, or Friend sticks close to the day master on the Month Stem or Hour Stem. Seal close by: makes a living with the brain. Eating God/Hurting Officer close by: makes a living with skills. Friend close by: makes a living with sweat or connections. Month Stem takes priority over Hour Stem — Month is the career palace.
- See where Target sits : Wealth and Official on Day and Hour are household resources. No need to go out and fight — just guard them. Wealth and Official on Year and Month are external. Your Constitution has to go acquire them. The acquisition method is work — Constitution suppressing Target, Constitution merging with Target, Constitution transforming Target: all are work.
Common Questions
Q: Mangpai doesn't look at day-master strength. So how do you tell if someone can get rich?
A:
Look at Constitution-Target match. Can your Constitution (your skills) and your Target (the wealth and power you want) produce effective work? Too many Friend stars but weak Wealth — you've got muscle and nowhere to swing it. That's the wage-earner chart. Strong Eating God that also generates Wealth — your skills turn directly into money. You eat what you kill. Strength has nothing to do with it.
Q: Does a 'weak body' in mangpai mean poor physical health?
A:
Not necessarily. Mangpai 'weak body' isn't judged by the traditional strength scale. If the day master has root, it's not weak — even if it's just a sliver of root energy. True poor health comes when the day master has no root AND the Constitution is wrecked — Salary pierced, Seal star crushed by Wealth. A simple weak body (rootless day master but strong Constitution) is often someone with a thin physical base but high energy — they burn out easily.
