Three Ways to Handle Seven Killings
Same Seven Killings — Resource-transforming, Eating God-controlling, Companion-sharing: three completely different paths
Seven Killings (七杀, qi sha) attacking the Day Master is one of the most common pressure sources in Bazi. There are three basic ways to handle it. Yin hua sha (印化杀, Resource transforms Killing): Resource Star drains Seven Killings and generates the Day Master. Convert the enemy's firepower into your own energy. The highest wisdom. Shi zhi sha (食制杀, Eating God controls Killing): Eating God directly overcomes Seven Killings. Eliminate the enemy head-on. The most direct. Bi jie kang sha (比劫扛杀, Companion shares Killing): Companion stands with the Day Master to share the load. Multiple teammates spread the damage. The most effortful. Selection priority depends on chart configuration: Resource present → use transformation (hua). No Resource, Eating God present → use control (zhi). Neither → use sharing (kang). Priority: hua > zhi > kang. If none are available (no Resource, no Eating God, no Companion), Seven Killings directly attacks the Day Master — lowest pattern tier.
Yin hua sha = drain enemy, generate self (highest wisdom — turn enemy into ally). Shi zhi sha = directly eliminate (most direct — simple and effective). Bi jie kang sha = group up, share damage (most effortful — last resort when the other two aren't available). Priority: hua if possible, zhi if no hua, kang only if neither.
1. Yin hua sha: turning enemy into food
2. Shi zhi sha: directly eliminating the enemy
3. Bi jie kang sha: group damage sharing
4. When hua and zhi coexist: don't mix them
How to Read It
Career & Wealth
Hua sha = suited for institutional careers — pressure converts to authority. Zhi sha = suited for competitive, direct-confrontation careers — you eliminate threats to advance. Kang sha = suited for team-based environments — you succeed through collective strength. Mismatch between Killing-handling method and career style creates chronic friction.
Love & Relationship
For women: Seven Killings is the secondary spouse star (pian fu, 偏夫 — non-standard relationship). Hua sha suggests relationships where pressure transforms into support — a demanding partner who ultimately strengthens you. Zhi sha suggests relationships where you must set boundaries — the partner dynamic requires active management. Kang sha suggests relationships sustained through external support — family or community backing the partnership.
Personality
Hua sha personalities: diplomatic, strategic — they manage pressure by redirecting it. Zhi sha personalities: confrontational, direct — they face pressure head-on and eliminate it. Kang sha personalities: communal, interdependent — they never face pressure alone. These are deep personality patterns visible in how the chart handles its primary threat.
Health
Seven Killings is the primary stress element. Hua sha charts process stress through intellectualization — mental health maintenance matters. Zhi sha charts process stress through action — physical outlets are essential. Kang sha charts process stress through social connection — isolation amplifies the Killing's impact. The Killing-handling method maps directly to stress-management strategy.

Practical Breakdown
- Three-choice rapid judgment: Step 1: check Resource Star — present and strong (has root, not overcome by Wealth)? Yes → use hua. Step 2: no Resource, check Eating God — present and strong? Yes → use zhi. Step 3: neither, check Companion — strong enough? Yes → use kang. All three absent → Killing uncontrolled, unfavorable chart.
- Avoid mixing hua and zhi: Hua and zhi can coexist but may conflict — Resource drains Eating God (weakening control) or Eating God overcomes Resource (weakening transformation). Don't operate both systems simultaneously. Pick the stronger path and commit to it.
- Luck Cycle may switch your method: Natal chart may use zhi sha, but a Resource-heavy Luck Cycle temporarily enables hua sha. Or a natal hua sha chart hits an Eating God cycle and temporarily switches to zhi. The method isn't permanently fixed — Luck Cycles can toggle it. Read the decade's dominant force, not just the natal setup.
Follow-up Questions
Q:Does Indirect Resource (Pian Yin) hua sha differ from Direct Resource (Zheng Yin) hua sha?
A:
Yes. Direct Resource hua sha = steadier, gentler (Direct Resource is orthodox learning and protection). Indirect Resource hua sha = colder, more unorthodox (Indirect Resource transforms Killing through unconventional means — solving pressure through unusual channels). Same basic mechanism — different flavor.
Q:What if Seven Killings is a Useful God — do I still need to handle it?
A:
When Seven Killings is the yongshen, the pressure it brings is actually constructive — it forges you. You don't 'handle' a favorable Killing the same way. You might still want control (to channel rather than eliminate), but transformation (hua) becomes ideal — converting its useful force into even more useful outcomes. Don't blindly suppress a yongshen Killing.
Q:Can a chart switch from kang sha to hua sha mid-life?
A:
Yes — if the natal chart has only Companion for kang sha, but a later Luck Cycle introduces a strong Resource Star, the method can switch. This is often experienced as: 'I used to just tough it out with others' help; now I've learned to convert pressure into growth.' The Luck Cycle provides the missing piece the natal chart lacked.
