Clash a tomb-storehouse — good or bad depends entirely on whether the contents are alive or dead

When Chen, Xu, Chou, or Wei get clashed, it's one of the highest-frequency 'ambiguous fortune' judgments in Bazi. The outcome depends on three things. First: is the clashed branch a storehouse (ku) or a tomb (mu)? (Covered in the previous article on ku-mu distinction.) Second: are the stored contents alive (strong) or dead (weak)? Third: is the clashing element 'opening' (unlocking wealth/officer) or 'destroying' (smashing the burial)? A storehouse with live contents → clash opens it for extraction (good). A tomb with dead contents → clash digs up the grave and exposes the corpse (bad).

Muku clash fortune has three checks: ① Storehouse or tomb? (Element strong = storehouse, weak = tomb.) ② What's the clashing element? (Is it just opening the door or destroying the container?) ③ Contents alive or dead? (Alive + opened = wealth. Dead + opened = disaster.)

1. Each branch's clash reaction

Chen (Water storehouse/tomb) clashed by Xu — Chen-Xu clash is earth vs. earth. If Chen is Water storehouse (Water strong), Xu clashing Chen = storehouse door smashed open, Water rushes out. If Water is your Wealth star → wealth storehouse opened → big money could enter this year. But if Chen is Water tomb (Water weak), Xu clashing Chen = grave dug up, Water destroyed → sudden career collapse or health crisis (Water destroyed). Xu (Fire storehouse/tomb) clashed by Chen — same logic. Fire strong, Xu is Fire storehouse → Chen clash = Fire released → major wealth or status event. 2. Event direction: storehouse opened vs. tomb destroyed

Storehouse opened (live contents): wealth — windfall or investment return suddenly arrives. Career — position or project suddenly launches with major change. Before judging any muku clash, one mandatory step: determine whether the clashed Chen/Xu/Chou/Wei is storehouse or tomb. Quick review: look at the stored element — does it have strength in the full chart? (Production source? Same-element allies? Root condition?) Strong = storehouse (stored energy). Weak = tomb (corpse storage). This step determines whether the clash outcome is completely opposite — storehouse clashed = good (open and extract). Tomb clashed = bad (grave desecration). Without this distinction, the same clash makes one person rich and ruins another — the difference is storehouse vs. tomb.

4. Not all clashes open the door equally

Clash severity matters. A light clash (clashing branch weak, or clashed from distance) partially opens — a crack, not a flood. A heavy clash (clashing branch strong, close position, with root) fully opens. Also: earth-on-earth clash (Chen-Xu, Chou-Wei) generally opens the door without destroying the container. Metal-on-wood clash hitting a storehouse (e.g., Shen clashing Chen's hidden Yi Wood) can damage the contents while opening — mixed outcome. Storehouse-clash years: have receiving structures ready: When your wealth storehouse gets clashed open, money can arrive suddenly and in volume. If you have no structure to receive it (no investment vehicles, no advisory team), the wealth flows through without sticking. Prepare the container before the clash.

Q:Can one Chen/Xu/Chou/Wei branch be both storehouse and tomb simultaneously?

For different elements, yes. Chen might be Water storehouse (Water strong) while having no storage relationship to Wood at all. But for a given element, Chen is either storehouse OR tomb — not both. Judgment is element-specific.

Q:What if the storehouse gets combined instead of clashed?

Combination also opens storehouses — just slower and gentler. Chen-You combination gradually opens Chen. No violent release, but the contents become accessible over time. Combination opening suits charts that can't handle the shock of clash-opening.
